A promise for a better planet

From Waste Plastic to Eco-Friendly Uniforms
In collaboration with the BYN Black Yak Group, McDonald’s transforms plastic waste generated in its restaurants into eco-friendly uniform padding material. These sustainable uniforms are more durable, easier to wash, and offer enhanced insulation compared to previous versions. Each eco-friendly uniform is made using approximately 55 recycled 500ml PET bottles or 67 recycled McDonald’s drink lids — turning discarded plastic into something with real purpose.
A Special Ice Cream Served in 100% Recycled PET Cups
Our Sundae Ice Cream is now served in cups and lids made from 100% recycled PET. Collected PET bottles and McDonald’s drink lids are cleaned, processed, and reused to create these eco-friendly containers — the first of their kind in the foodservice industry. The same material is also used for take-out beverage and coffee cups, helping reduce carbon emissions by 59% compared to new plastic.

Coffee Grounds Reborn as Eco-Friendly Fertilizer
Used coffee grounds from McCafé and waste mushroom substrate from tomato cultivation farms are recycled to create eco-friendly fertilizer. Lettuce grown with this fertilizer is then used once again as an ingredient in McDonald’s meals — completing a sustainable cycle of resource circulation. This initiative embodies McDonald’s commitment to closing the loop and building a sustainable future through responsible resource use.
